About Us

For close to 50 years, the Weekday Nursery of Cheverly United Methodist Church has provided generations of children with a caring, nurturing, and engaging environment to play, learn and grow. Developed as an outreach ministry of Cheverly United Methodist Church, the Weekday Nursery has been an asset to the community and young families of Cheverly.

Known as the "church in the heart of the community with the community in its heart," Cheverly United Methodist Church has been actively helping families and neighbors during the COVID-19 pandemic. For over a year, CUMC has provided lunches to homeless individuals and families housed by PG County to help curtail the spread of COVID-19. We also partnered with the Cheverly Emergency Response Team to provide food to hurting and hungry families. In 2020, more than 5,000 lunches were prepared and disseminated. More than 1,000 bags of food were distributed through the CUMC/CERT outreach. The church also provided food through a United Methodist Women outreach to families of children who attend Gladys Noon Spellman Elementary School and the Help By Phone Food Pantry. In 2020, the church provided help to numerous families affected by the flash flood that hit the town hard.
